Alex Bowen

Alex Bowen is one of the founder members of Breathe Creative. Alex is passionate about Arts and Creativity for Wellbeing and has been working in Community Arts and Community Development throughout her career.

Alex started out as a Community Film Worker, moving to Wales in 1991 to work with Valley and Vale Community Arts to document the changes to the South Wales Valleys after the closure of the mining industry and then becoming Director of the charity to help it thrive and develop for many years, moving into new areas of work and receiving much acclaim for the work both nationally and internationally.

Alex is an active member of WAHWN (Wales Arts, Health and Wellbeing Network) and has been a member of many other groups and committees promoting arts, health and wellbeing including theĀ Arts & Health Wales Cross Party Group, Arts & Health South West Network, BAVO (Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations) and WACA (Wales Association of Community Artists – Chair).

Alex has a proven track record in financial/ budget management and fundraising, with success in securing a wide range of large funding and income-generating streams as well as devising ground-breaking and innovative programmes of work. She works in a freelance capacity to develop the work of Breathe Creative with a team of experienced facilitators and practitioners from arts and health backgrounds, and also works as a fund-raising and community development worker and consultant.
